Hi all! I have had a large (to put it midly) index finger on my right hand my whole life. My parents did not notice it until I was about 2 years old. It is an old friend of mine. It has grown with me and you can ony imagine how big it got with my Freshmen 15 in college and the pregnancies of my two children :) I am writing this to tell everyone that it is okay. We (my family, friends, etc) call it my special or unique finger that God gave me and I tend to call it my "Party Favor"!! I am right handed and played volleyball, basketball, softball and dance throughout high school and played softball and soccer in college, as well as, getting a college basketball scholarship! Needless to say, nobody notices it after meeting me because I feel that everything else shines brighter than the large strobe light on my hand. I often have children ask me about it and occasionally adults will too, which I truly appreciate. I have named it and I feel the more open I am about it, the more comfortable people are. Although there are the times that people are rude, for instance, when they follow your hand like a dog watching a bone, but those are the times I like to mess with people or just point out that I notice them watching it and tell them I was born with it!
You are probably asking why someone who sounds like she has it together and that I must be related to a Care Bear or my life is all rainbows and puppies, it is what I make it, but I do have a pressing issue now. As I mentioned earlier, it grows with me, and lately hasnt lost the baby weight so it has a tendency to lose fall asleep or get tingly. It has moved down my hand and so I am researching where and what to do and if anyone else has had this issue. Feel free to comment or post something and I will keep my eyes open! xoxo
