It has taken me a long time to find a forum like this one. I am 48 yrs. old and was born with complete webbing of the left hand excluding my thumb. I have had many surgeries when I was younger to seperate and make my hand as usable as possible. But now after so many years I am having many problems. Arthritis,I can't bend some of my fingers, so I "pop" them to get some relief and am now experiencing more pain in them than ever. i would just like to use this forum to discuss with other adults born with and had the correction that I have had. I am also in need of a specialist that deal only with people born with syndactyly. I have yet to find one. Thanks..

    Twobtrue,

You should try to see a hand surgeon. Preferably one who takes care of both congenital hand differnces such as your syndactlyl and who also has a significant adult "arthritic" clientele. Many hand surgeons do take car of both of htese groups. The American Society for Surgery of the Hand has a find a doctor feature on their web site at www.assh.org to help you find a hand surgeon in your area.

Whether you have arthritis or perhaps just "trigger finger" or a combination of the two is difficult to ascertain from text but many adults have tendintitis that causes locking or popping and confuse it with arthritis. Furthermore a smaller less mobile hand that had a congenital difference is at times prone to more pressure in a focal area due to the decreased surface area avaialble for tasks.
