Our family is in the process of adopting a baby girl from China who was been diagnosed with “malformed fingers on both hands and malformed toes on the right foot”. Her thumbs are normal but the medical reports we’ve received are rather vague and the photos we’ve received look normal to us. We asked a local orthopedic hand specialist to review both the reports and the pictures and tell us if he could tell what the problem might be. He’s indicated that he thinks she has hypoplastic extendors and advised us to take her to a pediatric hand specialist once we bring her home. It appears from his description that he thinks her index fingers and pinkies are affected since the ring and middle fingers have creases present. We understand that no definitive diagnosis can be made without examining her directly, but we haven't been able to find much information on this condition and I'm wondering if anyone knows about this condition and could provide some idea of what we might expect?

Not really sure. I guess you will know more once the adoption goes through.
